Sergeant Harry Herbert Charles Langford aka. Sam joined the T.A. in 1939, at the outbreak of the second world war, in Swindon, Wiltshire, where he was living at the time.
He was in the 112th Field Regt. R.A. and then subsequently transferred to the 102nd Anti Tank Regt. He was posted overseas, initially to Egypt, then to Crete and was captured by the Germans at the end of the Battle of Crete on 1st June 1941.
He was held as a POW at Salonika, Greece, Spittal, Wolfsberg, Austria and finally at Hohenfels in Stalag 383.
